Due to unforeseen circumstances the next members’ meeting has a change in start time. The next Members’ Meeting will be this coming Wednesday, February 21st. at the, Carr Building, Creston Museum Starting at 4:00 pm.

Knitting in the Round

Instructor: Carmen Ditzler. Learn to knit in the round using two circular needles or one long circular for magic loop. Project will be a small mug cozy but this skill transfers to all kinds of knitting including socks and mitts. Bring any circular needles that you have, stitch markers, and yarn to match the needle size. Supplies will also be available for purchase prior to class. Must be able to cast on, knit, purl. Cost is $20.00. Class will be held at Fly in the Fibre but registration will be taken at the Creston & District Community Complex. Please call 250-428-7127 to register.

Instructor Leah Wilson - Soft wool colourful fibre is applied by gently stabbing with a special felting needle to a pre-made prepared ball various sizes and firmness will be provided. Enjoy an intuitive exploration in colour, touch, fibre, layering techniques. This class will be held at Fly in the Fibre but registration will be taken at the Creston District Community Complex. CKCA Arts and Culture grant programs application

Applications for the 2018/2019 CKCA Funding Programs for individuals and organizations within a community are now available and the deadline is looming. The annual CKCA Arts and Culture grant programs applications, for all arts disciplines, are now available online at www.basinculture.com together with information and funding policies. All applications for the Arts Funding to Communities and Minor Capital Arts programs must be received by the Creston Valley Arts Council by 5:00 pm, March 2, 2018.

A representative of your Arts Council will be at the Chamber of Commerce Building until 5:00 pm, Friday, March 2, 2018 to accept all applications.

Beginner Knitter

Instructor Mel Joy: Learn to cast-on using the long tail method, cast-off, knit pearl. You will learn to knit in the first class and pearl in the second. You will be able to complete two dishcloths. 40.00 supplies included. Ages 8 and up. First class is March 5 from 5-7pm Second class is March 12 from 5-7pm. Stranded Colour Work

Instructor: Carmen Ditzler. Learn to knit with two colours without tangling, read charts and maintain even tension. Project will be a small mug cozy but skills will transfer to all forms of knitting. Bring: needles that you use to knit in the round; double points, two circulars or magic loop with random yarns to match the needle size, stitch markers, darning needle, and ruler. Supplies will be available for purchase prior to class. Must have some experience knitting in the round. Needle Felted Mushroom Miniature Land

Instructor: Leah Wilson. This is a two-day workshop. Day 1: Saturday March 17th, 2pm to 4:30pm 2.5 hours learning how to sculpt soft wool fibre into little mushrooms using special needles for felting. Fun, tactile, and feels good, easy to achieve for all levels of experience. Learning the basics of 3D needle felting. Fibre and Needles provided.Day 2: Sunday March 18th, 2:30 to 5:00pm2.5 hours creating the patchwork felted landscape for your miniature mushrooms. Enjoy learning the basic techniques and artist secrets to finishing a needle felted sculpture. Pre-felted pieces, threaded needles, & embellishments, along with hand out instructions and enough fibre to complete the project are provided. $40.00 all supplies included except safety sponge.The Workshop will be held at Fly in the Fibre but the registration is being taken at the Creston & District Community Complex.
