A. Karen Arrowsmith Watercolour is the medium that I choose to use as it allows me to both plein air paint and do studio work. I like the way the colours blend and move adding excitement and pleasant surprises to my work. On location there is a connectedness with nature that is hard to explain but so wonderful to try and capture. Mother Nature is the master and I the student.

B. Emily and Warren Clark Pepper People Studio Shop in Destiny Bay has long been a dream for us, Emily and Warren, as an outlet for our traditional stained glass, glass art and jewellery, whimsical paper art and paper mache, water colours, sewing, whittling, carving and all manner of artifacts that percolate to the surface in our minds

C. Ute Bachinski The paintings and pastel drawings are inspired by my garden, the orchards and farms of Creston. The voluptuous shapes of vegetables delight me. I have a keen eye for detail, yet create bold and vigorous compositions. Watercolour has been my primary medium for some time, but I continue to work in pastel as well. My paintings are rich in saturated colour with a strong sense of form and a high degree of realism.

D. Laura Leeder A garden comes to life in Artist Laura Leeder's watercolour & mixed media paintings. Using collage media and other techniques reminiscent of vintage art deco and stained glass, Laura's floral and botanical paintings are elegant, timeless and expressive celebrations of nature with just a touch of whimsy.

E. Carol Schloss I love the process of drawing - following a line and fleshing it out with value and color. Pastels are the ideal medium for me. Simple in form and rich in color, pastels are endlessly responsive and satisfying, and what better place to be than in this beautiful valley! Original artwork, giclee prints and cards offer a range of prices for everyone.

F. Ann Miller Colour is important in my life; flowers in a garden, fabrics and yarns in a window display, the changing light and hues of the early evening sky, and the colours of the seasons all bring appreciation and joy. By designing and creating accessories and clothes, I can explore colour and texture through the creative processes of knitting, crocheting and felting. My intent is to make every piece unique, combining function and aesthetics into wearable art.

G. Anne Fetterly's art practice explores processes involving natural dyes, fabrics and repurposed materials. She dyes silks and cottons using plant dyes then designs and sews them into a creative selection of one-of-a-kind scarves and wearable art. Her art practice explores various processes associated with the sustainable art of natural dyeing. She is inspired by the beautiful color options that are created from natural sources and that contribute to a sustainable art practice.

H. Andrea Revoy I am a ceramic artist and potter who also spins, weaves and dyes fibres and yarns. I am drawn to making whimsical, colourful things full of patterns, textures and flowers. My studio is in the middle of a cherry orchard surrounded by mountains in Creston, BC.

I. Elaine and Andy Alfoldy The Alfoldy Gallery five minutes drive east of Creston on Hwy 3. It's a studio gallery featuring their original paintings in a variety of mediums and subjects. The work is available framed and unframed, also a wide range of photo cards.

J. Jim & Howard Smith Father and son photographers Jim and Howard Smith live in the Creston Valley of south-eastern BC. Our photographs strive to relate the magnificence and wonder of our mountain landscape. They sell fine art, gallery wrapped canvas prints of their photos.

Culture Days - Create, Participate & Share

Culture Days is a collaborative, Canada-wide volunteer movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. The first annual Culture Days event swept across more than 700 Canadian cities and towns during the last weekend of September 2010, generating an extraordinary amount of enthusiasm in the process. This year's Culture Days weekend will take place on September 28, 29 & 30. Once again, the event will feature free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate "behind the scenes" and to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their community.
